With the decision to launch a new business venture comes a slew of decisions and options. We do our best making these decisions, that will have a lasting impact on the eventual success or failure of the business. There is one option many people haven't even heard of that could make your decisions much easier, and get your new business running and profitable immediately!

You may go into the process of starting your company with a particular idea or talent, but might not understand how best to start and run it. Or perhaps you already have a concept for how to run a business, but don’t know what business you want to be in.

Other people start from square one, researching different business models and niches, hoping to find an innovative, untapped market, or just something they think they’d have the ability to do.

No matter the approach, we basically make our startup decisions in a bubble. We choose something that sounds decent without knowing for sure that the business will be successful. This is a huge leap of faith!

But what if you could take all the guess work out of which business to choose, how to run it, and whether it is going to be profitable? What if you could start on day one with a head start? Having a proven winner, while the other startups are still throwing ideas against the wall to see what sticks?

It can be done!

There are profitable, established businesses all around us - including home-based businesses. And some of them are going to be for sale!

You can buy an existing business which already has buyers, business processes, and income, and take all the guess work out of it.

Business brokers have listings of companies available for sale, and these include home based businesses. Search for business brokers, or “Business for Sale” listings in forums.

If you don’t have the cash or credit available to purchase an existing business, these brokers and forums may still be helpful for you as a research tool. You can shop around and get a feel for what kinds of businesses are successful. You may find a local business in a different state which could be an amazing opportunity you never considered, and then set out to build a similar business in your area.

So do some research! You may find a business to purchase and operate without all of the hassles of “start up mode”. Or you can dig a bit deeper into appealing opportunities to start a similar business on your own.

At a minimum, this approach will expose you to several ideas you may not otherwise have considered, and gives you a great sense of which businesses succeed vs. those which are all promise but no profit.
